Creator profiles

The right setup for each creator type

Whether YouTube, podcast, live stream or social media – each content type has different technical requirements. Instarter has the right setup for everyone.

Creator type 01

YouTube video creator

Above all, YouTube videos need good lighting and clear sound. A ring light ensures even illumination, and a USB microphone on the table arm ensures clear sound close to the voice. Together you quickly have a clean setup.

Setup: Ring light + USB microphone + microphone table arm + tripod

Creator type 02

Podcaster & Audio-Creator

Above all, podcast sound needs a good microphone and an acoustically dampened environment. USB microphones are beginner-friendly and do not require an additional audio interface. If you want more room reverb reserves, you often choose a dynamic XLR microphone with an audio interface.

Setup: USB condenser microphone (entry level) or XLR dynamic microphone + audio interface (advanced) + desk arm + pop filter

Creator type 03

Live streamer (Twitch/YouTube)

Live streaming immediately appears calmer if the background and light are planned: a cleanly lit image, clear separation of subject and background. A foldable chroma key green screen enables virtual backgrounds, key lights illuminate the face and background separately.

Setup: Instarter green screen foldable + 2× key light set + USB microphone – complete stream setup that can be set up and dismantled in minutes

Creator type 04

TikTok & Instagram Reels

Short-form videos for Instagram and TikTok are often shot using smartphones. A ring light with a cell phone holder and a sturdy tripod or clamp are enough for clean vertical videos. For mobile filming, clamp LEDs and lavalier microphones help ensure understandable sound on the go.

Setup: Compact ring light with phone holder + wireless lavalier microphone - fits in a pocket, can be used anywhere

Creator type 05

Online course & webinar

For online courses, webinars and video conferences, image and sound are crucial for comprehensibility and impact. A ring light behind the monitor illuminates the face evenly, and a USB microphone delivers clear sound directly to the workplace.

Setup: Ring light on a table stand behind the monitor + USB condenser microphone with arm - discreet, always set up, ready for immediate use

Creator type 06

Presentation

Whether it's a product presentation, interview, tutorial or company video - in moderated formats, the focus is on clear image design, good lighting and understandable sound. A suitable setup consists of a stable tripod for steady recordings, LED light for even illumination and a microphone for clear voice recording.

Setup: Instarter LED ring light with tripod for even illumination + Instarter microphone for clear voice recordings + Instarter tripod for stable camera or smartphone recordings.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Instarter

Which ring light size is right for me?+

Small: table setup close to the camera, ideal for desk setups, video calls and short clips. Medium: versatile for reels and tutorials with a little distance from the camera. Large: useful if more distance is required or a larger recording area needs to be evenly illuminated. Basic rule: the greater the distance between the light and the subject, the larger the ring light should be.

USB or XLR microphone – which is the right entry for a podcast?+

USB microphones are the simplest solution: plug in, done. No additional hardware is required and they can be connected directly to any computer. The quality is sufficient for podcasts and YouTube in many cases. XLR microphones are more flexible, but require an audio interface as an intermediate stage. This is worthwhile if audio is the central content, for example interview podcasts or music production. For entry, USB is often the pragmatic choice; if you grow, you can switch to XLR later.

Do I need a ring light if I have window light available?+

Window light is basically very beautiful light – diffuse, natural. The disadvantage: It is inconsistent (time of day, weather, season) and one-sided (creates harsh shadows). A ring light is essential for regular content production that needs to look consistently the same. It always delivers the same result, regardless of the time of day or weather. Ideal: window light + ring light as a brightener for the shadow area.

What does a presentation setup need?+

A presentation setup needs clear image design, uniform light and understandable sound. A stable tripod, LED light and a microphone help to record product presentations, interviews, tutorials or company videos calmly and understandably.

How do I set up a clean streaming background with green screen?+

Three points are crucial for a clean chroma key effect: 1. Even illumination of the green screen – no shadows, no color gradient. Use two light sources from left and right. 2. Sufficient distance between the person and the green screen – at least 1 m, preferably more. This helps prevent color reflections on clothing and hair. 3. Personal lighting for the person – key light from the front. With these three elements, video conferencing software such as Zoom, Teams or OBS can deliver clean chroma keying.

Which Instarter set do you recommend for entering YouTube?+

Three things are crucial for starting on YouTube: light, sound and tripod. A starter set combines exactly that: a ring light for even illumination, a USB microphone for clear sound and a tripod for stable recordings. Common additions include a microphone table arm, a pop filter and simple background paper for a calm look. This is possible with a manageable budget.
